The standup process - CLOSE

The CLOSE step is enabled by default and cannot be disabled in a standup.

Only the facilitator can add notes, generate, edit, refresh or remove the AI summary, or share it by email. If nobody facilitated the standup, click REOPEN MEETING to become the facilitator, then move everyone to CLOSE again. Nobody gets the summary email twice.

Close your standup with key numbers, an AI summary and everyone's updates in one place. You can download, share or publish the results.

Use this step to:

  • see how many people took part, and how many tasks and blockers there were
  • read the AI summary of the day
  • download, share, or publish the standup summary

How a standup closes

  • At the close time of the series. By default, this is 5:00 pm on the day, in the series timezone. TeamRetro then sends a summary to the team. Learn more.
  • When the facilitator moves the standup to the CLOSE step.
  • If the series has no close time, when the next scheduled day begins.

If nobody posted an update, the standup still closes, but no summary is sent.

Once a standup is closed, nobody can add, edit or remove updates. You can still comment, react, give kudos and use whiteboards.

What the Close step shows

The step opens with the day's statistics:

  • blockers, and how many participants need help
  • tasks today, and items carried forward
  • tasks completed
  • the percentage of invited participants who submitted an update

Below the statistics you see:

  • the facilitator's notes
  • the AI summary
  • the attendees
  • each person's UPDATES, with blockers shown
  • the MENTIONS
  • any actions
  • the MEETING KUDOS

As a facilitator, click ADD NOTES to write notes for your team. The notes also go out in the summary email.

AI summary

TeamRetro writes a summary automatically when a standup closes. It is organized by subject, not by person. It covers work done, work in progress and blockers, and it cites the updates it is based on.

As a facilitator, you can click GENERATE SUMMARY if there is no summary yet.

Download, share or publish

  • DOWNLOAD the SUMMARY or the SUMMARY WITH COMMENTS as PDF or MARKDOWN. You can also download actions, agreements and comments as EXCEL or CSV.
  • SHARE the actions and standup summary by email. The PDF report is attached. Only the facilitator can share.
  • PUBLISH the standup summary to Confluence, Notion, Slack or Microsoft Teams, once your team has connected it. A Team Admin or the facilitator can publish.

Reopening a standup

To change updates after a standup has closed, click REOPEN MEETING in the title bar. This makes you the facilitator and takes everyone back to the STANDUP step. Anyone who can facilitate a standup can reopen it. The standup then stays open until you move everyone to CLOSE again, or until the next scheduled day begins. Learn more
