How do I allowlist TeamRetro with Google Workspace?
If you're using Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) and want to ensure your team always receives important emails from GroupMap or TeamRetro (like meeting invites, action summaries, or password resets), you can whitelist our sending IP address. This helps prevent those emails from being marked as spam.
You’ll need to be a Google Workspace administrator to complete these steps.
Step 1: Add IP address to your email whitelist
- Log in to your Google Admin Console.
- Navigate to Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail.
- Scroll to the bottom and select Spam, Phishing and Malware.
- Under Email whitelist, click Edit and enter the following IP address:
168.245.35.88
- Click Save.
Step 2: Add the same IPs as an inbound gateway (optional but recommended)
To further improve deliverability and prevent Google’s “This message seems dangerous” banner from showing:
- In the Google Admin Console, go to:
- Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > Advanced Settings
- Select your domain (on the left).
- Scroll to Inbound gateway under the “Spam” section and click Configure.
- In the configuration panel:
- Add the same IPs listed above under Gateway IPs.
- Check Require TLS for connections.
- Under Message Tagging, check:
- Message is considered spam if the following header regexp matches
- Enter a header value like:
kzndsfgklinjvsdnfioasmnazhipbsmfs(unlikely to appear elsewhere)
- Select: Disable Gmail spam evaluation on mail from this gateway; only use header value
- Click Save.
Final Notes
- Allow up to 1 hour for these settings to apply.
- For security TeamRetro will only send emails to mail servers over a secure TLS 1.2+ connection and with a valid mail server certificate covering the email address domain. If you mail server does not support TLS 1.2+, or the certificate does not match the email address domain, messages will not be delivered. You can test your mail server configuration using https://ssl-tools.net/mailservers . If this issue affects you, we recommend raising it with your IT support.
